Hello! Here we are at the first appointment of the Inspiration of the month section.
For those who have not read the introductory article, this is a section dedicated to twelve charming table setup ideas, one for each month.
So I present to you the inspiration of January, the first month of the year. January, characterized by low temperatures (at least here in Italy), might seem unpleasant to the eyes of people sensitive to the cold, but instead hides an indisputable charm for its nostalgic and elegant mood:

  • Nostalgic because it still brings with it all the charm of the Christmas atmosphere and the warmth that can be felt in the rooms and in the houses heated by the burning fireplaces
  • Elegant for the cold colours present in nature during this season: the sharpness of the blue sky on cold and sunny days, their grayness when it snows and the infinite shades from dark blue to purple that colour flowers, berries and leaves.
I show you a small personal selection of landscape images that fully represent colours and suggestions of this time of the year. These photos have been a great inspiration for me to develop the colour palette of this first month.

After introducing you this month from the point of view of sensations, we get to the heart of the exhibition! The scenography chosen to recount the table setup of January has a large stone fireplace as its background, in order to achieve an intimate and convivial atmosphere.

In contrast to the warm light of the fireplace and the candles, the tones of the table setup are intentionally cold: specifically they are in gray colour and in shades from blue to purple, embellished with silver.

We realized an aymmetrical centerpiece of great importance using different heights and vases of different materials in order to create movement and attract the most attention on several focal points.

If You are a curious reader, below are the species of flowers and plants used for the centerpiece compositions.

Finally we turn our attention to the details, compositional elements that absolutely determine the elegant and refined effect of our winter table.
I would like to point out two characteristics in particular:

  • the fineness of the shelled nuts in the small glass and silver jars and the floating candles made with their shell
  • the use of precious materials such as the silver of the candelabra or the cutlery in stark contrast to the aged wood of charger plates and table.

Now you surely have a new vision of January in terms of setting up, so that you can be inspired in the decorative choice of your special events. Don't miss the next appointment in February, I'll wait for you!
